FAQ ON THE CONVENTION

My paper has been selected. Do I need to present it in the convention?

Due to paucity of time, [Note: the convention is reduced to 2.5 days instead of normal 5 days] only Invited Speakers would be presenting in the convention. However, poster presentation for 25-30 papers is planned.


What do you mean by Invited Speakers? Am I invited speaker?

Invited Speakers are those who were especially invited by CSI for giving talk. Speakers are eminent people form the Industry and Academicians. If you have sent a paper on your own accord, it is termed as “Contributed papers”.


Will my paper be part of proceedings?

If your paper was selected by CSI, it will be part of proceedings. About 25 contributed papers are selected for Book. Another 100 papers are selected for CD.


How are the papers selected for the proceedings?

A panel of experts drawn from the industry selects papers. They go through the paper and make their selections. 


Do I get to know why my paper was rejected?

Papers may get rejected for various reasons. Mostly, if the paper is just about “Introduction to a topic”, it normally gets rejected. Another common rejects are those, which falls in “browse the web, copy-and-paste” kind of papers. There are also papers, which have only “Abstracts” in them. If the panel finds that there are no original contributions from the author, it gets rejected. At no cost, we would divulge why we selected or rejected a paper. It is confidential.


If my paper is selected, should I still register? Is there any discount for the authors?

Yes. All delegates are paid-delegates. CSI is a non-profitable organization. For a three-day convention, we have priced very low. Kit alone would more than Rs600. There is book costing Rs400, CD, Bag, etc. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea on all three days. All for Rs.3,600/- or less depending upon which category you belong to [student, CSI-Student member, CSI member, non-CSI]. Hence, we do expect all people to pay for the attending the convention.


Can I purchase proceedings only?

Yes. You can do it. The cost is not announced. It would be kit cost + packaging and forwarding cost. You can contact only after the convention and not before. 

I am eager to know whether I am eligible for your esteemed certificates of appreciation for the papers selected?

As far as certificates are concerned, yes you will get "Paper Published certificate" from Event / Program Chairman. If you attend convention, you will get one more for "Participation Certificate".
